Gail Marie Kohls

Gail Marie Kohls, 80, of El Dorado, passed away Aug. 10, 2015, after a long battle with cancer. Gail was born to John and Dorothy Korinek on May 25, 1935 in Chicago, Ill. The family moved to Ellsworth, Kan. Gail graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1953. She graduated from Fort Hays State University, taught two years at Natoma, Kan. and retired in El Dorado after teaching there 36 years. On May 30, 1954, she married her high school sweetheart, Everett Kohls. They were married for 61 years. Gail is preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy Korinek, step-mother Ora, son David Arlan, nephews Jason Korinek and Eric Fox and brother-in-law Jerry Montgomery. Survivors include her husband, Everett Kohls of El Dorado; daughters, Liane (D.A.) Fowler of Manhattan, and Lori Kohls of El Dorado; daughterin- law Diana Kohls of El Dorado; grandchildren, Amber (Spencer) Stewart of Lawrence, Tyson (Crystal ) Kohls of El Dorado, Tamara (Adam Patterson) Kohls of El Dorado, Jeremy (Miranda) Fowler of Lawrence, and Justin (Teresa) Fowler of El Dorado; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings Carol (Sharon) Fox of El Dorado, William (Ann) Korinek of Lyons, and Linda ( Jim Austin) Montgomery of El Dorado; seven nieces and nephews; and valued care provider and friend, Lexicia Kurnes. Her funeral service was Friday, Aug. 14 at the Trinity United Methodist Church. She was laid to rest in Bella Vista Cemetery. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Interim Hospice and Golden Living Center for the wonderful care of their wife and mother during her last days. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the Kohls Family Scholarship for Education Majors at Butler Community College. Carlson Funeral Home and Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
