Nina Marie Hysell (1927-2019)

Nina Marie Hysell, 92, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019 in Salina. She was born Jan. 29, 1927 in Ellsworth to William and Minnie (Nienke) Barkow.
Nina was a lifetime resident of Ellsworth where she married Hiram Hysell on June 5, 1949. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and EHU.
Nina is survived by her son, Allen (Lorene) Hysell of Hutchinson; daughter, Leann Mehl of Hutchinson; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Richard (Leona) Barkow of Ellsworth.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hiram; two infant children; brother, Bill Barkow; sister, Viola Campbell; and granddaughter.
Visitation is from 1-8 p.m. Friday, June 7 at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ellsworth with burial following in Ellsworth Cemetery.

Patrick Joseph 'PJ' Sheesley (1980-2019)

Patrick Joseph ‘PJ’ Sheesley, 39, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019. He was born March 7, 1980 in Albuquerque, N.M. to Burton and Sara (Lemley) Sheesley.
Patrick became a lineman after graduating from Pratt Community College with a degree in Electrical Power Technology. He was a proud lineman working many commercial powerline projects across the country.
Patrick married Tina Templeton in Wilson on April 19, 2019. She survives him.
He is also survived by his sons, Rylan and Bronson Sheesley; daughter, Kira White; son, Brenton Chesmore; mother, Sara Mobley of Ellsworth; father, Burton Sheesley (Lil) of Florence, Colo.; maternal grandmother, Carrie Dickens of Ellsworth; nephew, Caleb Sheesley of Ellsworth; sister, Holly Hopkins (Michael) of Texas; and brothers, George, Luke, and Benjamin Ashauer, all of Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Kimberly Sheesley

Mary Ann Davidson (1947-2019)

Mary Ann Davidson, 71, died May 27, 2019 at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita. She was born June 12, 1947 in Great Bend, Kan., the daughter of Lester and Viola (Krier) Kahler.  
A 1965 graduate of Holyrood High School in Kansas, she later attended Fort Hays State College.
On July 30, 1967, she married Dale A. Davidson at the United Church of Christ in Holyrood.
They journeyed together throughout his military career with the Air Force. First to Enid, Okla., and then to Vacaville, Calif. Mary Ann returned to Claflin, Kan., while Dale was serving in Vietnam. Upon his return they lived in O’Fallon, Ill., back to Vacaville, then to Montgomery, Ala., back again to O’Fallon, onto Bellevue, Neb., and then back for one last stop in O’Fallon, where they retired before finally moving back to her beloved state of Kansas, settling in Derby, Kan., in 2017.
Mary Ann was a secretary for 20 years for the O’Fallon School District in Illinois, retiring in 1997.

Barbara M. Siefers (1935-2019)

Barbara M. Siefers, 84, of Wilson, passed away May 22, 2019.  Born Feb. 3, 1935 in Dodge City to Eula Edward and Mary (Huberty) Martin who preceded her in death. She married William M. Siefers Sr. Aug. 17, 1957 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Dubuque.
After 58 1/2 years of marriage, Bill died May 21, 2016. An infant grandson, Lyle Ptacek also preceded her in death.

Della Ann Ranker (1932-2019)

Della Ann Ranker, age 86, passed away May 11, 2019 at Medical Lodges of Great Bend. She was born Nov. 17, 1932 at Ellsworth, to Otto F. and Anna C. (Kohls) Haase. Della married William Von Ranker Oct. 23, 1951 at Ellsworth. He passed away Feb. 16, 2016.
A 1950 graduate of Ellsworth High School, Della had been a resident of Great Bend since 1956, coming from McCook, Neb. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she held an active role as a Sunday School teacher, and was employed by Security State Bank for 22 years, retiring in 1995.
Survivors include three sons, David Ranker and wife Ronda of Hays, Steve Ranker of Florissant, Mo., and Philip Ranker and wife Darcee of Solana Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren, Matthew Ranker and wife Becca, Amy Brooks and husband Wyatt, Hayley Ranker, and Lynsie Ranker and husband James; five great-grandchildren, Noah, Caleb, Gracie, Hope and Isaac Ranker.

Matthew Everett Burwell (1965-2019)

Matthew Everett Burwell, 54, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019 in Salina. He was born April 20, 1965 in Longview, Wash. to John, Sr. and Patricia (Pruner) Burwell.
Matthew is survived by his sons, Stephen of Ellsworth and  Zachary of Colorado; step-daughters, Amber and Rachel of Salina; mother, Patricia McElroy of Kanopolis; brothers, John Burwell, Jr. (Tracy) of Bend, Ore., Lucas Burwell (Shelley Yarbrough) of Portland, Ore., and Aaron Burwell of Kanopolis; sisters, Wendy Stroede (Marc) of Kanopolis and Heidi Beal (John) of Burns; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date.

Larry Kent Hrabik (1936-2019)

Larry Kent Hrabik passed away on Friday, Jan. 18, 2019 at his home in Omaha, Neb. at the age of 82.
Larry was born on April 30, 1936 in Wilson, Kan. to Henry and Viola (Cook) Hrabik. He grew up in Wilson and graduated from Wilson High School with the Class of 1955. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force in 1956. He was united in marriage to Phayllis (Boothe) Hrabik in 1957 in Topeka, Kan. To this union Mike and Ron were born.

Carol Jean Herber (1935-2019)

Carol Jean Herber, 84, passed away Friday, May 10, 2019, at her home in Salina, Kan. She was born Feb. 9, 1935 in rural Russell County to Carl and Carrie (Cook) Kaufman. Carol graduated from Dorrance High School with the class of 1953. She was united in marriage to Richard Edward Herber at the Dorrance Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death March 1, 1986.
Carol was very active in her community. She was a member of Altrusa, the Chamber of Commerce, and was on the Board of Directors at Citizens State Bank & Trust Company. She also was very involved in the Salina Home and Garden Show. Carol was an entrepreneur. She owned and operated many businesses. In her spare time she enjoyed planting and tending to her flowers in her backyard, traveling, and K-State football; but what she enjoyed most was spending time with her grandkids.
