Robert D. (Bobby) Basgall

(1941-2015)

Robert D. (Bobby) Basgall, 74, owner of Knotheads Bait Shop of Wilson Lake, lost his long battle with cancer on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015. He was born April 19, 1941 in LaCrosse, Kan., the son of George “Everett” and Euphrosena (Hartman) Basgall. He married Sylvia Hoover in May of 1963. To this union two daughters, LaDonna and Pamela, were born. They later divorced. He married Donna Peery on
April 19, 1997 in Waikiki Beach, Hawaii. She survives. He was a machinist for Boeing in Wichita and retired in December 2004. After a year of retirement, he and Donna bought the bait shop at Wilson Lake which kept him busy. Bobby is survived by his wife, Donna, of the home; daughters LaDonna Basgall and Pam Basgall-Cooley, both of Wichita; step-daughter, Donna “Sue” Graham of Wilson Lake; two step-sons, William Peery of Salina, Kan. and Harley (Rebecca) Peery of Goddard, Kan.; two granddaughters, Amber and Megan; several step-grandchildren; seven brothers, Ralph, LeRoy, Virgil, Ronald, Raymond, Anthony, and Daniel; sister, Kathleen Basgall; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Melvin, Gerald, Harry; and a sister, Mary Jane Pittman. A memorial service will be hosted by his family at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the Lincoln Community Church in Lincoln, Kan. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to the Lincoln Community Church, Christian Motorcyclist Association or Gentiva Hospice and may be sent in care of Donna Basgall, 132 E. Shoreline Road Sylvan Grove, Kan. 67481.
