Harvey A. Woodmansee

Harvey A. Woodmansee, 95, of Wilson, Kan. passed away Sept. 4, 2015 at the Ellsworth County Medical Center in Ellsworth, Kan. Harvey was born Aug. 9, 1920, in Kanopolis, Kan., the son of Russell and Viola (Barton) Woodmansee. He grew up in the Kanopolis area and graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1938. After graduation he served his country in the United States Army. Harvey was united in marriage to Helen Rabas in 1941 in Sterling, Kan. This union was blessed with two sons, Roger and Douglas. Together they made their home in Wilson, Kan. Helen preceded him in death on July 14, 1997. He later married Blanche Jiricek. She survives. Harvey owned and operated Wilson Supply for over 50 years. He was a member of the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Ellsworth, Ellsworth Masonic Lodge 146, life member of Ellsworth V.F.W. Post 6458, 70-year member of the American Legion Post 262 in Wilson and the Wilson Saddle Club. Survivors include his wife, Blanche, of Ellsworth; two sons, Roger Woodmansee and wife Julia of Wilson, and Douglas Woodmansee and partner Marshall Pearcy, of Palm Springs, Calif.; a brother, Phil Woodmansee and wife Carol of Great Bend; two sisters-in-law, Marie Woodmansee and Pauline Woodmansee; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Helen; and four brothers, Glen, Russell Jr. Keith, and Lyell. The funeral was Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the Foster Mortuary Chapel with Fr. Dan Sheetz officiating. Interment followed in the Wilson City Cemetery with military rites by Fort Riley Honor Guard and Wilson American Legion Post 262. Memorials are suggested to Wilson American Legion Post 262 and may be sent in care of Foster Mortuary. This appeared Sept. 10, 2015, in the Ellsworth County Independent-Reporter.
