Purpose of I-R’s new website is to complement the newspaper

Technology has become so embedded in our lives we tend not to think about it — until someone posts a dumb comment on Facebook about us or issues a provocative Tweet that captures our attention. We did not have a website when the Ellsworth County Independent published its first edition in 1999. We’ve now been through at least four and we’re still counting. Our most recent effort went live Monday morning. At www.indyrepnews.com, you will find short summaries of city council meetings, football games and other events as soon as they happen. We also will focus more on breaking news. The beauty of a website for a weekly newspaper has always been its ability to give us immediate access to our readers. At the same time, we believe our product has value and should not be given away. If you’re interested in details, see the subscription form on Page B1 of this week’s I-R.
