Shirley R. Holtmann-Charlton (1934-2015)

  Shirley R. Holtmann-Charlton, 81, died Oct. 8, 2015, at Wichita.
  She was born and grew up in Ellsworth, where she attended school and graduated from high school in 1951. After graduation, she enrolled in the school of nursing at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, graduating as a registered nurse in 1955.
  She married Dean Charlton soon after and they moved to Manhattan. While there, Shirley worked as a nurse at a local hospital and later as a surgical nurse for a local doctor. Their son, Michael, was born in 1959, at which time she stopped working to care for him. The family moved to Wichita in 1964, where they have lived since. Shirley worked as a nurse in a nursing home for 15 years before retiring.
  She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ella Holtmann.
  She is survived by her husband, Dean, of the home; a son, Michael, and his wife, Julie, of Cumming, Ga.; a grandson, Andrew of Lubbock, Texas; and two granddaughters, Kelsey of Oakland, Calif., and Mallory of Georgia; a sister, Alice Roenigk of Fort Myers, Fla.; two nieces and a nephew.
  Burial was at Burlingame, Kan.
