Oilers destroy Solomon, win state playoff berth

SOLOMON — The second-ranked 2A Central Plains Oilers’ mauled the third-ranked 2A Gorillas, 42-16, in an 8-man District 5 football game Friday, in Solomon. The first offensive series for the Oilers did not go well. In fact, quarterback Braedan Crites was sacked twice for big losses, forcing the Oilers to punt — both situations a rarity for a team that is used to scoring on its first series of downs.
