Hurricane can’t dampen cruise spirits

It may not have been the three-hour tour made famous by Gilligan and the Skipper, but an 11-hour drive from Kansas to Texas to board a ship for a Caribbean cruise stretched into a harrowing and frustrating 14 hours recently for an Ellsworth woman and seven of her friends — thanks to Hurricane Patricia. “We just caught the very end [of the hurricane] — that was enough for me,” said Juanita Kepka of Ellsworth. “Trying to go down the Interstate and figuring out which road to take to get around all the flooding was frustrating.”
