Lady Oilers escape with a victory

CLAFLIN — The top-ranked and defending 2A basketball champion Lady Oilers of Central Plains escaped with a 58-41 win against the Lady Cardinals of Hoisington in the season opener at Claflin. Central Plains has established itself as a scoring machine in the past two seasons. And like any dormant machine, the Lady O’s seemed to have a lot of rust in the first two quarters of the game, with the Lady Cardinals grabbing a 9-5 lead by the 3:18 mark of the first quarter.
