Ellsworth tradition comes to a close

Amidst tears from employees, Ellsworth’s Guilley’s restaurant unexpectedly closed its doors for good Dec. 22. The close of the former Dairy Queen marked the end of a 51-year family tradition of service to the community. “We just weren’t getting the business that we really needed in order to stay open,” said co-owner David “Guilley” Guilfoyle. “The town has been very supportive, but there’s just too many food outlets for so few people. I’ve been trying to plug the holes were I could, but I couldn’t do it fast enough and with enough money.”
