Sewing has almost always been a part of Marilyn Huslig’s life. But it wasn’t until she retired from teaching in 2011 that it became a replacement for the mostly third grade students she had mentored for the 35 years of her career. Today, visit the downtown gallery of the Ellsworth Area Arts Council, and you’ll find almost two dozen colorful, intricately designed quilts Huslig has cut and pieced together in the past four years.
