OILERS WIN 48th ANNUAL ST. JOHN WINTER CLASSIC

ST. JOHN — The top-ranked and undefeated 2A Oilers beat fourth-ranked 2A and defending 2015 2A champion St. John 51-38 Saturday in the championship match of the tournament in St. John.

It was the second win over the Tigers for Central Plains this season and a great game of basketball on both sides of the ball. The Oilers looked improved from the Jan. 15 win over second-ranked 1A Division II Victoria, controlling both the defensive and offensive aspects of the game.

HOISINGTON — The Ellsworth Bearcats defeated second-ranked 1A Division II  Victoria 48-42 Saturday, in the fifth-place consolation bracket game in Hoisington.

The Lady Cougars of Otis-Bison defeated the Lady ‘Cats 46-40 in a close fifth-place consolation game in Hoisington.
