The mystery of Texas fever

When drovers trailed their wild longhorn cattle into Kansas, the dreaded cry of “Texas fever.” Could spread panic through the stock farms that were in their path. Also known as Spanish fever, the mysterious disease could lie dormant for years, as though it were merely the figment of a particularly cruel imagination.
