Vehring wins Ellsworth County Spelling Bee

Adam Vehring, a seventh grade student at Ellsworth Junior-Senior High School, correctly spelled the word “mirage” to win the 2016 Ellsworth County Spelling Bee Feb. 3 in the Performing Arts Center at Ellsworth Junior-Senior High School. Vehring, the son of Joseph and Kristen Ward of Ellsworth, will represent Ellsworth County at the Sunflower Spelling Bee, Saturday, March 5, at the Beach-Schmidt Performing Arts Center on the campus of Fort Hays State University. The winner will advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. in May.
