CLAFLIN — The top-ranked 2A Central Plains Oilers defeated a good Ness City ballclub 75-52 in a CPL league game in Claflin. The Eagles were within 10 points of Central Plains at halftime, a feat few ball clubs have accomplished this season.

The top-ranked, defending two-time 2A State champion Lady Oilers cruised to a 55-22 win over the Lady Lady Eagles in the girls’ game. As in the boys’ game, Ness City is a better team than the score implies.

DOWNS — The Wilson Dragons put one in the win column with a 52-49 win over Lakeside in a Northern Plains League game in Downs.

The Lady Dragons lost a heartbreaker, 52-50, to the Lady Knights in the girls’ game.

GYPSUM —  The seventh-ranked 3A Trojans of Southeast of Saline beat the Bearcats 66-41 in Gypsum.

The Lady ‘Cats were defeated by the Lady Trojans 65-28.

Read about these games in the Feb. 25 edition of the I-R.
