Clara A. Brown (1919-2016)

Clara A. Brown, 96, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016. She was born Clara A. Rogers on July 2, 1919. She was the daughter of Oren and Cora (Luckinbill) Rogers. Clara grew up on a farm two miles north of Glasco and graduated from Glasco High School in 1937. She was the sixth of seven children having two brothers, George and Onie, and four sisters, Mary, Nellie, Alma, and Del.

In 1940, Clara married James K. Brown and moved to Wichita in 1942. They lived in Wichita until they moved to Ellsworth in 2001.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, and three sisters.

Survivors include: two daughters, Kay of Las Vegas, N.V. and Judy (Gerry) of Kanopolis; two sons, James Jr. of Wichita and Mike (Marie) of Dallas, Texas; one granddaughter, Ginger (Dale) of Salina; four grandsons, Michael (Angie) of Windsor, Colo., Mitch (Angie) of Gypsum, Travis (Suzanne) of Austin, Texas, and Jason (Dana) of Dallas, Texas; 16 great- grandchildren; one sister, Del of Oakley; and many nieces and nephews.

Clara was a member of the West Side United Methodist Church in Wichita. She spent many hours reading and studying her Bible. In recent years, she enjoyed spending time with friends in a Bible study class. She was a quiet, reserved person.

Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016 at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at the Ellsworth First United Methodist Church with burial following in the Kanopolis Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ellsworth First United Methodist Church TV Ministry, in care of the funeral Home, PO Box 45, Ellsworth, Ks. 67439.
