Basketball sub-State tournament updates
Ellsworth’s Remington Cravens guards Phillipsburg’s Trey Sides in the final seconds of the Bearcat win in the first round of the 3A Norton sub-State basketball tournament in Ellsworth.
ELLSWORTH — The Ellsworth Bearcats came from behind to get a 58-57 win over Phillipsburg in the final seconds of the first round of the 3A Norton sub-State basketball tournament in Ellsworth.
The Panthers are a good team comprised of sophomores and freshmen and grabbed the lead in the first quarter, but the Bearcats battled back, gaining the momentum of the game in the final four minutes of the fourth quarter.
CLAFLIN — The top-ranked, undefeated and two-time defending champion 2A Lady Oilers of Central Plains destroyed the Lady Eagles of Ellinwood, 78-17, in the first round of the 2A St. John-Hudson sub-State basketball tournament in Claflin.
WILSON — Both the Dragons and the Lady Dragons had a bye in the first round of the 1A Division II Palco sub-State basketball tournament.
