Tuesday sub-State tournament updates

HAYS — The top-seeded Lady Monarchs of Thomas Moore Prep defeated the Lady Bearcats 63-17 in the first round of the 3A Norton sub-State basketball tournament in Hays.
The Lady ‘Cats gave up a lot of height and played with a lot of heart.
The Lady Monarchs (18-2) will play Russell (15-6) at 6 p.m. Friday at Norton.
NORTON — The Ellsworth Bearcats (12-9) will play top seed and seventh-ranked Norton (18-3) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Norton.
CLAFLIN — The top-ranked and undefeated 2A Oilers of Central Plains destroyed the Medicine Lodge Indians, 68-30, in the first round of the 2A St. John-Hudson sub-State basketball tournament in Claflin.
The Oilers will play Central Prairie League rival Ellinwood (14-6) at 6 p.m. Friday in St. John.
The top-ranked, undefeated and two-time defending champion 2A Lady O’s will play Pratt Skyline (9-12) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in St. John.
PALCO —The Dragons (9-12) will play Palco (7-10) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the 1A Division II Palco sub-State basketball tournament in Palco.
The Lady Dragons (15-6) will meet Northern Plains League rival Natoma (15-6) at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Palco.
