PALCO —  The Lady Dragon bench was the key to their 46-40 win over  Northern Plains League rival Natoma (15-7) Friday in the 1A Division II sub-State tournament in Palco.

 

The Lady Dragons will play their arch-rivals, the Lady Mustangs of Sylvan-Lucas Unified at 6 p.m. Saturday in the championship match.

 

Palco will play the Sylvan-Lucas Unified Mustangs in the boys’ championship match at 7:30 p.m.

 

ST. JOHN — The top-ranked and undefeated 2A Oilers trounced Central Prairie League rival Ellinwood 60-30 Friday, in the 2A St. John-Hudson basketball tournament in St. John.

 

The O-men will play their arch-rivals and defending 2A champions, the fourth-ranked Tigers of St. John-Hudson at 7 p.m. in the championship match.

 

It will be the fourth meeting of the teams this season. The Oilers have defeated St. John-Hudson three times this season

 

The top-ranked, undefeated and two-time defending champion 2A Lady Oilers of Central Plains will play South Central at 6 p.m. Saturday in the championship match at St. John.

 

The Lady Timberwolves are ranked eighth in the state by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association.

 

The “Jungle”, home of the St. John-Hudson Tigers, is an extremely loud venue during a Tigers versus O-men game. Hearing protection is advised.

 

Good luck to all three teams in their championship quests.


 

NORTON — The Lady Monarchs of Thomas Moore Prep will play Beloit at 6 p.m. in the 3A sub-State tournament in Norton.

 

Top-seeded and seventh-ranked Norton will play a fifth-ranked Thomas Moore Prep team in the championship match at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Norton.
