Harvest time for affluent

By Jerry Marsh

Let’s celebrate tax season, the season for whining, mainly by the most affluent and the top 1 percent who take in c. 20 percent of all national income and hold c. 40 percent of all wealth in the United States while the bottom 20 percent of Americans have little income and negative wealth, no accumulated wealth at all, just debt. Every year at this time, the rich whine about all the income tax they have to pay, they demonize the government that has done much to provide them an opportunity to make all that money, and they begrudge some poor soul a meager pittance in food stamps.
