City of Wilson Ordinance regulating undomesticated animals

ORDINANCE NO. 831

AN ORDINANCE REGULATING UNDOMESTICATED
ANIMALS IN THE CITY OF WILSON, ELLSWORTH
COUNTY, KANSAS AND AMENDING SECTION 17
AND SECTION 18 OF ORDINANCE NO. 715.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF WILSON, KANSAS.
Section 1:  AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 715
Section 17 of Ordinance No. 715 shall read as follows:
Section 17. Keeping Animals —
Domesticated household pets, defined as non-poisonous and non-vicious animals and fowl which are commonly kept as household pets, including cats, dogs, hamsters, rabbits, parakeets, and comparable animals, are allowed when kept in a safe and sanitary manner.
Other undomesticated animals may only be kept by registering and paying an annual fee pursuant to City of Wilson guidelines.  A copy of said guidelines are available at Wilson City Hall during regular business hours.   
Section 18 of Ordinance No. 715 shall be amended to be read as follows:
Section 18. Nuisance, Animal Activated Prohibited —
   (f)  Is not kept/contained in an appropriate way on the owner’s property.
   (g)  Causes disturbance by noise, odor, or lack of cleanliness of animal or the area contained in.
Section 2. REPEAL OF PRIOR LAWS AND ORDINANCES.
All prior laws and ordinances in conflict with herein are repealed.
Section 3. PUBLICATION.
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after publication in the Ellsworth County Independent/Reporter, the official city newspaper.
