Meal costs will increase for local students

The cost of breakfast and lunch will increase throughout the Ellsworth-Kanopolis-Geneseo School District in the 2016-17 school year. The board approved the increase recommended by district superintendent Dale Brungardt Monday at its meeting in the district office at Ellsworth. “We receive some funding from the feds for school lunches and they want all schools eventually to get to a targeted price per meal,” Brungardt said. “The least we can increase prices is 10 cents per meal. I think that we should raise the lunch price 15 cents per meal.”
