Candidates talk county issues
Editor’s Note — Advance voting opened Wednesday, July 13, for the Aug. 2 primary. Republican voters in Ellsworth County will determine candidates for three offices: sheriff, county attorney and commissioner to fill the seat being vacated by Terry Kueser. Only the winner of the commission race will have Democratic opposition in the Nov. 8 general election. This week, the Independent-Reporter features Republican commission candidates, Steve Dlabal and Leland Francis, both of Wilson. The winner will face Mike Peschka, also of Wilson, in November.
Leland Francis
I have experience in city government having served on the Wilson City Council and also as mayor of Wilson. I believe these experiences have helped me become familiar with the duties of serving the local population. I believe in any county, especially in Ellsworth County that when one part of the county excels we all excel.
Steve Dlabal
I have farmed southeast of Wilson since 1972 and have been on the Noble Township board since 1997, most of those years as a trustee. While visiting with some friends the subject of putting my name on the ballot for county commissioner came up and after a lot of encouragement, I decided to run.
