When we drove the pasture to check cows, at a certain hill, my grandfather McCoy and uncle Ronnie would constantly remark that this was the spot where they saw my father make a headshot on a moving coyote at a distance of about 100 yards with his .22 rifle. My maternal family was equally talented. I watched my 75-year-old grandfather McGillivray light wooden stickmatches at a distance of 20 yards using his .22 rifle.
