Georgia Marie Rodriguez (1940-2016)

 Georgia Marie Rodriguez, 76, passed away Sept. 20, 2016 in Ellsworth.
She was born February 22, 1940 in Kanopolis, Kan. to Isabelle “Mike” Perez and Carrie (Grise) Perez. Georgia married Marcus “Marc” Rodriguez, Sr. in Kanopolis on June 11, 1962. She was a member of the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, St. Bernard’s Catholic Council of Women, and the American Legion Auxiliary in Ellsworth. She worked for the Green Thumb Program at Ellsworth Correctional Facility doing clerical work and working in the mailroom. She was also a homemaker. What Georgia loved the most was fixing Mexican food for her family and the community.
Georgia is survived by her daughter, Sandra Phillips (James) of Collierville, Tenn.; daughter, Anita Rodriguez of Ellsworth; son, Marc Rodriguez (Christine) of Great Bend; grandchildren, Michael Rodriguez (Patti), Jose Rodriguez, Carrie Dobbins (Erik), Nicholas Rodriguez (Cassie), and Chenoa Rodriguez (Trey); great-grandchildren, Antonio, Anakin, Ashlyn, Teyton, Athena, Jaeyla, Mariah, Aurora, Grayson, Gracelyn, Canaan and one on the way; brother, Dale Perez (Velma); sister, Isabelle “Bonnie” Tripp; sister, Juanita Perez; brother, Michael Perez (Nancy); sister, Mary Anna Tripp (Jimmie); many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews; and special families who were close to Georgia, Cory and Cheryl Rathbun and family and Rex and Keri Boley and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marc; son, Joseph; daughter, Julie; brother, Ronald Grise; sisters, Francis Tripp, Martianna and Rachel Perez; and granddaughter, Crystal Rodriguez.
Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth, with family present from 6-7 p.m. The rosary/vigil service will be at 7 p.m.
The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, with burial following in the Ellsworth Cemetery.
