Richard D. ‘Dick’ Schreiber (1932-2016)

Richard D. “Dick” Schreiber, 84, Osborne, passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2016 at Osborne County Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 26, 1932, to Fred and Edna Mowery Schreiber. Dick was a graduate of Osborne High School in the Class of 1950. He was called into the U.S. Army to serve in the Korean Conflict of 1951 through 1953. On his return, he went back to work beside his father in the welding shop.
On Jan. 7, 1965, he and Marvelene Lund Thornburg were married and made a home for her daughter, Donetta, and their son, Gary.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Lance Burch.
He is survived by is wife, Marvelene; daughter, Donetta; son, Gary and wife, Cecilia; grandsons, Ted Anderson, and wife Kari, of Halstead, and Cole and Lane Schreiber of Osborne; great-grandchildren, Malik, Lance and Kasody Anderson of Halstead and a host of friends.
The funeral was Sept. 27 with military honors at the United Christian Church, Osborne, the Rev. Dennis Davenport officiating. Burial was in Osborne Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the North Central Kansas Outdoor Youth Fair.
Clark-Gashaw Mortuary, Osborne, was in charge of arrangements.
