Rachel L. Janssen (1942-2016)
Rachel L. Janssen, 74 passed away Oct. 2, 2016 at Salina Regional Health Center.
She was born on June 22, 1942 in Ellsworth to Herschel and Marian (Craig) Janssen. Rachel worked in medical records at the Ellsworth County Hospital. She was a member of Red Hats, enjoyed numerous Bible studies, and was very fond of helping with “Bible Alive” at her church. The things Rachel most enjoyed in life were spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her son, Clinton Walker of Salina, and daughters Chrys Lamatsch and husband David of Claflin and Cara Spurney and husband Blaine of Salina. Grandchildren are Tyler Walker and Lauren and Michael Lamatsch and one great-grandchild Kolten Walker. Also surviving are two brothers, Arlo Janssen of Sheridan, Wyo., Richard Janssen and wife Shelly of Ellsworth and two sisters, Jo Walker and husband Duane of Canton, and J. Janssen of Evergreen, Colo. along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday Oct. 7, at the First Baptist Church, 843 Lewis Ave., Salina. Graveside services will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Carneiro Cemetery.
