Oilers advance to regional game
CLAFLIN — The Central Plains Oilers won the 8-man Division I Bi-District trophy with a convincing 60-20 win over the Argonia-Attica Titans Tuesday in Claflin.
The Titans had a two-point lead early in the first quarter, but the Oilers capitalized on a fumble and interception to pull way by halftime. The O-men owned the second half of the contest.
With the win, fifth-ranked Central Plains will face a re-match of last season’s regional contest against the top-ranked Lancers of Spearville at 3 p.m. Saturday, in Claflin.
In the 3A race, 3-7 Larned upset 7-3 Cimarron and will face a powerful third-ranked Phillipsburg club in the second meeting of the teams this season in Larned.
In the 8-man Division II race, Stockton and Lakeside, the champs and runners-up of District 5, lost their Bi-District matches. Pike Valley of the Northern Plains League and Chase of the Central Prairie League are still alive.
