ELECTION HANGOVER
We can’t stand silent to the forces of racism and bigotry

Over the past week, I’ve tried to follow President Obama’s example and be gracious about the results of the recent presidential election or — as my Republican friends advise — just get over it. It’s not going well.
I keep thinking about the son of my best friend. Richard was everything. Smart. Funny. Handsome. And gay.
I shared my friend’s journey from the time she learned Richard was a homosexual to his death about a dozen years later. My friend is gone now, too, but she would be horrified to think of Donald Trump in the White House. Mostly, she would be worried about her son and all the others who don’t quite fit into the world of Donald Trump and his inner circle.
