Mid-Winter basketball tournament updates
HOISINGTON — The Ellsworth Bearcats and Lady Bearcats will compete Jan. 16-21 in the annual Hoisington Winter Jam.
The Lady ‘Cats, with a 7-1 record, are seeded second and will met a struggling Victoria squad at about 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan 16 at the Activity Center in Hoisington.
Fifth-ranked 1A Division II Otis-Bison is the top seed.
The Bearcats (6-2) are also seeded second and will meet a 1-7 Bronco club at 8:15 p.m. Monday, Jan 16 at the Activity Center in Hoisington.
Top-ranked 1A Division II Otis-Bison is the number one seed.
LINCOLN — Wilson will compete in the huge annual Northern Plains League tournament Jan. 13-21 in Lincoln. The NPL encompasses 14 schools and 26 ball teams with four Kansas Basketball Coaches’ Association ranked teams competing on the girls’ side and five ranked teams on the boys’.
The ninth-ranked 1A Division II Dragons (6-2) will meet a winless Thunder Ridge club at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the high school in Lincoln.
The emerging Lady Dragons (5-3) will play 1-7 Tescott at 5 p.m. Friday at Lincoln High School.
ST. JOHN — The Oilers will compete in the Mid-Winter Classic Jan. 16-21 in St. John. Brackets have not yet been set.
All times are approximate, as preceding basketball games could run into overtime periods and delay the start of following games.
