Friday’s roundball tournament wrap-up

Bearcats will play Otis-Bison for Winter Jam Championship

HOISINGTON — The Bearcats whipped Minneapolis, 53-36, Friday, at the Activity Center in Hoisington. The win pits the ‘Cats against top-ranked 1A Division II Otis-Bison at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, at the Activity Center in Hoisington.

The third time was the charm for the Lady Broncos of Russell, who avenged two previous losses with a tight 43-41 win over the Lady ‘Cats. Ellsworth will compete in the third-place game at 3 p.m. at the Activity Center in Hoisington.

ST. JOHN — Ness City defeated the Central Plains Oilers, 52-46, Friday in the Mid-Winter Classic at St. John. The Oilers will play for third-place at 6:30 p.m. in St. John.

LINCOLN — The ninth-ranked 1A Division II Wilson Dragons defeated a good Lakeside squad.  61-44. Friday, in the Northern Plains tournament in Lincoln. The Dragons will play Pike Valley in the fifth-place game at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Lincoln Grade School.

The Lady Dragons defeated Natoma, 45-30, Friday in Lincoln. The Lady Dragons will play the Lady Leopards at 3 p.m. at the grade school in Lincoln.

The Lady Leopards are vastly improved since the December early season basketball tournament.
