Lady 0’s make fourth trip to State

GREENSBURG — The top-ranked, undefeated and three-time defending 2A champion Lady Oilers of Central Plains will defend their 2A crown for a fourth consecutive season. The Lady O’s defeated the Lady Coyotes of Kinsley, 68-34, Saturday in the championship game of the Kiowa County 2A sub-State basketball tournament in Greensburg.

The Lady Oilers pulled to a 19-6 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. The Lady O’s rolled 23 points through the net and held Kinsley to 13 in the second period to have a 42-19 halftime lead.

Conditioning came into play in the third stanza as the machine-like, rapid pace of the Central Plains girls appeared to wear upon the Lady Coyotes. The Lady O’s scored 17 points and the Lady Coyotes made three in the third quarter for a 59-22 score at the end of the period.
