Salute to the Past

Ellsworth kicked off its 150th birthday celebration Saturday night with a tribune to the men and women who battled drought, floods and prairie fires to settle this part of Kansas.

About 150 attended the Old Settlers Reunion at Ellsworth City Hall. The event, which organizers hope becomes an annual ritual, was sponsored by the National Drovers Hall of Fame, which is working to restore downtown Ellsworth’s signature Insurance Building.
