City of Ellsworth Charter Ordinance Relating to Elections

ORDINANCE NO. 24
BEING AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHARTER
ORDINANCE NO. 22 RELATING TO ELECTIONS OF THE CITY OF ELLSWORTH, KANSAS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ELLSWORTH, KANSAS:
SECTION 1. That a new Section 10 be added to Charter Ordinance No. 22 stating the following:
“Section 10 – Any person desiring to become a candidate for city office elected at large shall file with the county election officer, before the filing deadline, established in K.S.A. 25–205, and amendments thereto, a declaration of candidacy on a form furnished by the county election officer as specified by the secretary of state. The nomination petition must be signed by 25 of the qualified electors of the City of Ellsworth.”
SECTION 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances conflicting with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby expressly repealed.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage by the Governing Body of the City of Ellsworth and publication in the official city newspaper.
