Combines creep across Ellsworth County

The 2017 Ellsworth County wheat harvest is crawling to a start as area farmers hope for hot, windy and dry days to get the grain in the bin.
“One of the major concerns we are seeing is the stalks aren’t ready to cut,” said Dwight Elmore, general manager of the Ellsworth Coop. “The combines have to work harder to cut through the straw.”
