City of Kanopolis Public Hearing

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
The City of Kanopolis will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, September 12th, 2017 at 7 p.m. in the Kanopolis City Hall located at 100 South Kansas Avenue for the purpose of considering an application to be submitted to the Kansas Department of Commerce for Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds under the Water and Sewer Category.
The specific project application to be discussed are improvements to the City’s water distribution, water storage and water supply systems in an area generally bounded by the City Limits of the City of Kanopolis, KS. A map of the area is available at City Hall from 8am to noon and 1pm to 5pm Monday through Friday or by appointment.
The project will generally consist of installation of approximately 16,650 lineal feet of new PVC water mains (4” & 6” diameter), 5,600 lineal feet of water service line, 42 valves, 22 fire hydrants, 270 meter assemblies, AMR system for all water meters, associated fittings, removal and replacement of surfacing, elevated water tower painting and upgrades, and new municipal supply well. Related activities will include mobilization, legal services, temporary financing, railroad and KDOT right of way permits, easement acquisitions, design, construction observation and administration. The estimated project cost is $1,999,035 with the CDBG grant request for $600,000 of the project cost. The additional funds may come from local funds and/or USDA Rural Development.
Other project proposals introduced at the hearing will be considered. Oral and written comments will be recorded and become a part of City of Kanopolis CDBG Citizen Participation Plan. Reasonable accommodations will be made available to persons with disabilities. Requests should be submitted to the City Clerk by 2 p.m. on September 12th, 2017.
