City of Kanopolis Water Application

PUBLIC NOTICE
File Nos. EW001 and 49,889

The City of Kanopolis has filed Application 49,889 for a permit to appropriate water for beneficial use, with the Division of Water Resources, Kansas Department of Agriculture.  Application File No. 49,889 is requesting 184.3 acre-feet of water to be diverted at a rate of 800 gallons per minute from a battery of wells for municipal use.  The geographic center of the battery of wells is proposed to be located in the Northeast Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter (NE1/4 NW1/4 SE1/4) in Section 36, Township 15 South, Range 8 West in Ellsworth County, Kansas.
Further, the City of Kanopolis has filed an Application to Change a Point of Diversion authorized by Vested Water Right File No. EW-001.  Said application proposes to re-locate the well currently located in the Southeast Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of the Northeast Quarter (SE1/4 SE1/4 NE1/4) of Section 24, Township 15 South, Range 8 West in Ellsworth County, Kansas to a location in the Southwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of Section 25, Township 15 South, Range 8 West in Ellsworth County, Kansas.
Anyone, with existing wells in the immediate vicinity of either proposed point of diversion, is invited to submit written comments regarding Application File No. 49,889 or the proposed application to change the point of diversion authorized under Vested Right File No. EW-001.  Persons submitting comments should specifically indicate their interest in the proposed appropriation.  Comments regarding either of these applications will be accepted through November 1, 2017.
