Mabel Francis Bouley (1923-2017)

A visitation will be held for friends and family at O’Leary’s Celebration of Life Center from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday Jan. 6. A graveside service will be held in Topeka, Kan. at a future date.

Mabel Francis Bouley was born in Aurora, Kan. Oct. 17, 1923 to Frank and Melvina (Collette) Cote. She passed away on Dec. 29, 2017 in Des Moines, Iowa after a short illness.

Mabel was married in 1943 to Eugene Bouley. As a homemaker and mother, she enjoyed gardening and sewing as Gene’s career with Southwestern Bell took them across the state of Kansas. They lived 12 years in Ellsworth, Kan. where Mabel was a member of the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. Gene and Mabel retired in Topeka in 1976. After Gene’s death in 2009 Mabel moved to Norwalk, Iowa to be closer to family.

Mabel is survived by her two daughters, Sherry (Garry) Fleming of Norwalk, Iowa and Val (Scott) Seely of Idaho Falls, Idaho; daughter-in-law Barb Bouley of Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mabel was preceded in death by her husband Gene; son Darrell Bouley; and six sisters, Marcella, Beatrice, Valeria, Fern, Edna Mae, and Grace.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be addressed to the Norwalk Easter Public Library.
