Tree cutting aimed at avoiding problems down the road

Behind this past week’s discussion of tree-cutting by the Ellsworth City Council, there lay a more complicated one about property lines, fences, aesthetics and access. Scott Moore, city administrator, updated the council on the progress of the work being done near the intersection of East 10th Street and Elizabeth Drive. Notification of residents was in progress.

“We’ve talked to everyone on the 10th Street side,” Moore said.

The council ultimately approved a cutting attachment for the city’s skid loader. Once the limbs are removed, the cutter’s 30-inch blade will lop off each tree at its base.
