Robert Joseph Muñoz, 68, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at his home in Kanopolis surrounded by his family.

He was born Aug. 6, 1949 in Ellsworth to Angel and Ilene (Morrison) Muñoz. Robert was a lifetime resident of Kanopolis. He worked as a logistics operator for Exide and Graves Truck Line for many years. Robert served his country in the Vietnam War as a member of the U.S. Air Force. He received a commendation medal for bravery under fire while stationed overseas. He was an avid outdoorsman and was in his element fishing the lakes and rivers of central Kansas.
Robert is survived by his sons, the Rev. Fr. Mark Muñoz (Michelle) of Rochester, Minn. and Aaron Muñoz (Elizabeth) of Kanopolis; sister, Susan Rice (Bruce) of Salina; brother, Charles Muñoz (Maria) Port Orchard, Wash.; and grandchildren, Gabriel, Nina, Sebastian, Amelia, Lacey, Arian, and Jesse.
He was preceded in death by his parents; longtime partner, Cathy Podlena; and brothers, Elmer Taylor and David Muñoz.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday, May 28, at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth, with family present from 6-7 p.m. A vigil service will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Kanopolis with burial following in Kanopolis Cemetery.
