Donald Floyd Hanson (1932-2018)

Donald Floyd Hanson, 85, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018 in Salina. He was born July 11, 1932 in Ellsworth to John and Esther (Burgenger) Hanson.

Donald married Garnell Deming Jan. 28, 1954 in Ellsworth. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War then joined the Ellsworth VFW Post 6485 and American Legion Post 174. After the war, Donald worked for Northern Natural Gas in Bushton and Midland, Texas for 28 years holding various positions. He also worked for Perry Gas Processors in Texas for two years. After returning to Ellsworth from Texas, Donald and his wife Garnell owned and operated D&G Gas Service. While living in Ellsworth, Donald was an Ellsworth County Commissioner for nine years, a member of the Kansas Association of Counties, a job coach for OCCK, and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he spent time as an elder, president, and on the board of directors of the Kansas District-Lutheran Church Missouri Synod for nine years.

Donald is survived by his wife Garnell of Ellsworth; sons, Alan Hanson (Kathryn) of Borger, Texas and Brett Hanson (Krista) of Wichita; daughter, Brenda Erichsen (Chris) of Ellsworth; grandchildren, Sandra Hanson of Lubbock, Texas, Eric Hanson (Ashley) of Lubbock, Texas, Ryan Hanson (Lauren) of Bryan, Texas, and Logan and Noah Erichsen of Ellsworth; three great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Hanson (Chris); and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Darrell Hanson.

Visitation is from 1-8 p.m. Monday, July 2, at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth with family present from 6-8 p.m.

Funeral service is 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ellsworth with burial following at the Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery.
