Louise Armbrust (1919-2018)

Louise Armbrust, 99, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 in her home. She was born on a farm April 3, 1919 in rural Ellsworth County south of Ellsworth to Fred and Ethel (Bradford) Lorenz.

Louise attended the one room, Lone Star School in Mulberry Township. She married Richard “Jack” Armbrust Nov. 18, 1945, after he returned from service in the Army during WWII. Louise worked at several cafes. She enjoyed visiting with all her customers. She worked at Beverly Meats until that department closed. She then worked for over 20 years for Lee Hardware before she retired.
Louise loved her cats and spent most of her time when at home, weather permitting, in her vegetable and flower gardens. She grew many vegetables, flowers, and various fruit trees over the years.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband in 1968; father in 1971; mother in 1982; sister, Ruth Armbrust in 2005; Ruth’s husband Dell in 2004; younger sister, Pauline Lorenz in 2009; only brother, Fred E. in 2007; Fred’s wife Mary Louise (Kejr) in 2007; nieces, Leanna (Armbrust) Harris, Brenda (Armbrust) Horton, Karen (Armbrust) Jackson, and Tammy Armburst; and nephew, Robert Armbrust.

She is survived by her nephews and nieces, Delbert Armbrust, Nancy Sue Allen, Janice Brooks, Joyce Weeden, Donald Armbrust, Larry Armbrust, Anita Shoemaker, Lori Frick, Lila McConnell, and Kenda Hahn; as well as many great- and great-great nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her companion of many years, her black and white “Doly” cat.

Louise was a member of the Carneiro United Methodist Church most of her life.

Cremation services are planned with a memorial service being planned for a later date around Labor Day.
