Wake service is at 7 p.m. tonight (Thursday) at St. Harold “Joe” Harold “Joe” Smith, 85, formerly of Salina passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015. He was born March 1, 1930 in Bogue, Kan. to K.B. and Caroline Smith. He attended school in Solomon. He worked in construction and retired from Salina Building Systems. He enjoyed being outdoorsand was an avid fisherman. Joe married Betty Nichols-Smith June 11, 1955. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Joe is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home; daughters, Pamela Soukup and husband, Jim, of Ellsworth, Penny Weis of Salina, and Patti Thomes and husband, Chris of Overland Park, Kan.; grandchildren, Steven Weis, Ashley Weis, Cody Soukup and Madison Thomes; four great-grandchildren, Bailey Weis, Blaine Shenk, Lexus Sheets, and Taylor Sheets. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Irene Jones; brothers, Leo, Jessie, and Charley Smith. Funeral service was Wednesday, July 29, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association and are in care of Ryan Mortuary , 137 N. Eighth St., Salina, Kan. 67401.
