Osythe M. Wallert
Osythe M. Wallert, 91, passed away Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation in Great Bend, Kan. Osythe was born Nov. 20, 1924, in Wilson, Kan., the daughter of Henry and Ruth (Viglini) Kuch.
Osythe grew up in Wilson and was a graduate of Wilson High School. She moved to Great Bend in 1960 and worked at the Central Kansas Medical Center as a switchboard operator then as a surgery scheduler. She went on to work as a medical coder for Dr. David Gillenwater for 22 years, retiring in 2013. She was meticulous in her work and enjoyed working in her yard and traveling with her family.
Osythe married Leonard Wallert Dec. 19, 1943, in Russell. He died Jan. 30, 2003. Osythe was also preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Leonard Jr.; son, Rocklin; and sister, Connie Sebesta. Survivors include a son, Rick Wallert, of Great Bend; a daughter, Jackie Swire and husband, Vic, of Bushton; grandchildren Stacey Chandler, Craig Wallert and Josh Hagen; four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Foster Mortuary Chapel in Wilson.
Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Jan. 27, at the mortuary, with Pastor Becky Stredney officiating. Interment will follow in the Wilson City Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established with the Great Bend Regional Hospital in care of the mortuary, P.O. Box 533, Wilson, Kan. 67490.
