Wheat expected to end season on an up note

This past week’s Ellsworth County wheat tour showcased two wheat crops — one that was treated for stripe rust and the other that was left to fend for itself. Michelle Buchanan, agronomy and horticulture agent for the Midway Extension District, thinks the difference in yields — especially in varieties susceptible to the disease — could be as much as 40 percent.
