Schools prepare for worst, hope for best

The recent Kansas Supreme Court deadline to fix school funding by June 30 and the Kansas Legislature’s refusal to comply with the court order has forced the Ellsworth-Kanopolis-Geneseo and Central Plains school districts — like all 293 districts in the state — to consider the possibility of July 1 school closings. “We have a plan, we just don’t know what they will allow us to do yet,” said USD 112 superintendent Greg Clark.
