Head ‘em up, Move ‘em out is 2017 goal

In 2011, when Ellsworth’s most recent cattle drive arrived at the end of the trail, Jim Gray wasn’t ready to quit. Instead of taking the 400 head of Texas longhorns to the Ellsworth Recreation Center grounds, Gray would have preferred to keep riding, all the way to Nebraska. Instead, he told his fellow drovers they should plan for another cattle drive in 2017, the 150th anniversary of the Chisholm Trail. They thought he was slightly crazy.
