Commodity prices sink

When Dave Brownback walked into Citizens State Bank & Trust Co. for the first time in 1979, wheat was $4 a bushel. About a decade later, it had climbed to $12 a bushel and more. One day this past week, as farmers prepared for the crush of wheat harvest, cash wheat sold for $3.78 — 20 cents less than the week before — at the local grain elevator.
