KDHE issues boil water order for Kanopolis
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued a boil water order for the City of Kanopolis, effective Tuesday night , July 26. City clerk Yvonne "Bonnie" Stoppel said Wednesday morning a water sample submitted Monday again tested positive so the oder was issued. The order remains in effect until the problem is solved. The department issued a boil water advisory for the City of Kanopolis public water supply because of a positive bacteriological sample and inadequate chlorine residuals in the distribution system.
The advisory took effect July 22 and will remain in effect until conditions which place the system at risk of contamination are deemed by KDHE officials to be adequately resolved.
Stoppel said Kanopolis Mayor Russell "Rusty" Bunch, city council member Gerry Gebbhardt and KDHE officials are at the Kanopolis City Shop trying to find a solution to the problem. Once a solution is found, another water sample will be submitted for testing.
