Candidates challenged on state tax policy

WILSON — Three incumbent Kansas legislators and two challengers appeared Saturday morning at Wilson’s 56th Annual After Harvest Czech Festival. However, the politician positioned squarely on the hot seat was not among those who spoke at the legislative coffee at Grandma’s Soda Shop. It was Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback and his policies, specifically the 2012-13 income tax cuts many credit with the state’s ongoing budget woes, that drew the ire of several in the audience.
